#004: Ask Aimee: Zumba results

This is the 4th question of my “Ask Aimee” blog series and today’s question is as follows:

Q: How many times a week should I be doing Zumba® to see results?

A: Good question. I imagine that when you say “see results” you mean to lose weight. The answer to this question is simple, do as many Zumba® classes as your body can take. The more cardio you do, the more calories you’re going to burn.

Zumba is great for burning lots of calories. In a one hour Zumba® class, you can expect to lose anywhere from 400 to 500 calories.

In the beginning, you can start by taking two classes per week. Even at that pace, you will begin to see some results within 2 to 3 weeks. As you start building endurance, you can then work your way up towards doing 3 to 4 classes per week. You will definitely see faster results at that level.

Your body adapts quickly to challenges and stress, so remember to keep challenging your body. The more intense the class, the more calories you’re going to burn.

I recommend you mix it up and try not only the regular Zumba® Fitness class but also the other Zumba® formats like Zumba® Toning and Zumba® Step. Since those formats use equipment, like the lightweights in Zumba® Toning and the step in Zumba® Step, the workouts are more intense.
 

 

WHAT ARE YOU EATING?
Also, keep in mind that what you eat and drink will also affect the results you get. If you’re drinking a lot of sodas and eating junk food, don’t be surprised if you do not see the results you want.

Remember, in the battle to lose weight, exercising is half the battle. The other half is eating right. If you’re out there exercising hard, but not eating right, you could be wasting your time. It would be like taking two steps forward and then five steps back.

CONCLUSION
Not only does results depend on how many times you do Zumba, but also your motivation and commitment to reach your fitness goal.

The only way, you’re going to see results is to take action. So get out there, start dancing and having fun. The results will come to those who really want it.
