One of the great things about being a member of the Zumba Fitness company is that I get access to many healthy recipes through one of the magazines I get every month. So I’m going to share with you three delicious nutrient-packed juice recipes taken from the Z-Life Magazine, Summer 2013, by Holly C. Corbett.
Berry Banana Immune-Booster
1 small banana, peeled
1 cup of frozen berries
½ cup vanilla soy milk
2 teaspoons of lemon or orange juice
Health benefits: The berries and citrus juice provide immune-boosting vitamin C while soy milk adds calcium. Bananas have potassium for fluid balance and vitamin B6 to help your body better metabolize protein, fat, and carbohydrates.
Ginger Greens Digestion Helper
3 cups of spinach
3 cups of kale
2 kiwis
1 thumb-sized bit of ginger root, peeled
½ cup water
Health benefits: Green leafy vegetables like spinach are especially high in magnesium, which helps regulate blood sugar to prevent diabetes. Kale is known to be an anti-inflammatory. Kiwis are packed with vitamin C and have been found to ease symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome; Ginger also aids digestion.
Beet Juice Endurance Enhancer
1 beet, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1 red apple, chopped
½ cup cold water
Health benefits: Some research suggests that beet juice increases nitrates in the body to help power your muscles so you can work out longer and harder. Carrots have beta-carotene for eye health, and apples provide easily-digestible carbs for energy.
